UAE Corporate Tax

What It Means

UAE Corporate Tax is a federal tax levied at 9% on net business profits exceeding AED 375,000 per financial year, effective for financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023.

Business Challenges

Businesses face complex compliance obligations including registration, return filing, transfer pricing documentation, and mandatory accounting records — all new requirements for most UAE companies.

FTA Penalties

Penalties range from AED 10,000 for late registration to AED 50,000 for non-filing. Late payment attracts 14% per annum.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA provides comprehensive Corporate Tax compliance from registration to filing, with dedicated tax advisors ensuring your business is always on the right side of the FTA.

Corporate Tax Registration

What It Means

All taxable persons including companies, free zone entities, and individuals with business income must register with the FTA for Corporate Tax before their applicable deadline.

Business Challenges

Identifying the correct entity type, understanding residency rules, and determining the correct financial year-end can be complex for new and existing businesses.

FTA Penalties

AED 10,000 penalty for late registration. Delays can compound with further administrative sanctions from the FTA.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA handles end-to-end Corporate Tax registration — from entity analysis to FTA portal submission — ensuring timely and accurate registration for all businesses.

FTA Compliance UAE

What It Means

FTA Compliance covers all obligations under UAE tax law — registration, return filing, record keeping, and responding to FTA queries and formal tax audits.

Business Challenges

Staying compliant with evolving FTA regulations, multiple tax types (CT, VAT, Excise), and strict record-keeping requirements is resource-intensive and complex.

FTA Penalties

Aggregate penalties for non-compliance can exceed AED 100,000 across multiple violations, with criminal liability in serious cases.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA provides an all-in-one compliance management service, ensuring your business meets every FTA requirement on time, every time.

Corporate Tax Return Filing

What It Means

UAE Corporate Tax Returns must be filed with the FTA within 9 months from the financial year-end, accompanied by audited financial statements where required.

Business Challenges

Accurate computation of taxable income, adjustments for disallowed expenses, and correct treatment of exempt income require deep technical tax knowledge.

FTA Penalties

AED 500 for the first month of delay, increasing to AED 1,000 per month thereafter, plus potential FTA audit triggers.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA prepares and files accurate Corporate Tax Returns, maximising allowable deductions while ensuring full FTA compliance and avoiding penalties.

UAE Transfer Pricing

What It Means

Transfer Pricing rules require that transactions between related parties or connected persons be conducted at arm’s length, reflecting fair market value at all times.

Business Challenges

Documenting intercompany transactions, preparing Master File and Local File, and conducting benchmarking analysis require deep and specialised technical expertise.

FTA Penalties

Failure to maintain TP documentation can attract AED 10,000–AED 100,000 in penalties and trigger full tax audits with retroactive tax assessments.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA’s TP specialists prepare comprehensive Transfer Pricing documentation and benchmarking studies that fully withstand FTA scrutiny.

Free Zone Tax UAE

What It Means

Qualifying Free Zone Persons (QFZP) may benefit from a 0% Corporate Tax rate on qualifying income if specific conditions are met under the UAE CT Law.

Business Challenges

Meeting QFZP eligibility criteria, understanding qualifying vs non-qualifying income, and the de minimis test require expert guidance and careful structuring.

FTA Penalties

Incorrectly claiming QFZP status can result in the full 9% tax becoming due retroactively plus significant penalties and interest charges.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA conducts QFZP eligibility assessments and implements compliant structures to maximise your free zone tax benefits lawfully.

VAT Registration Dubai

What It Means

VAT at 5% applies to most goods and services in the UAE. Mandatory registration is required for businesses with taxable turnover exceeding AED 375,000 annually.

Business Challenges

Managing VAT on imports/exports, reverse charge, input tax recovery, and quarterly filing can be overwhelming without qualified expert guidance.

FTA Penalties

VAT penalties range from AED 500 to AED 50,000 for filing errors, late registrations, or late submissions to the FTA.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA manages your complete VAT lifecycle — registration, quarterly returns, input tax optimization, and FTA query responses.

QFZP Eligibility UAE

What It Means

A Qualifying Free Zone Person (QFZP) is a free zone entity that meets specific conditions to benefit from the 0% Corporate Tax rate on qualifying income under UAE CT Law.

Business Challenges

QFZP status requires adequate economic substance, qualifying income sources, compliance with transfer pricing, and passing de minimis non-qualifying revenue tests.

FTA Penalties

Losing QFZP status results in all income becoming subject to the standard 9% Corporate Tax rate, potentially including retroactive tax assessments.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA conducts a comprehensive QFZP eligibility review, puts in place the necessary substance requirements, and monitors ongoing compliance to protect your status.

FTA Penalties

What It Means

The FTA issues administrative penalties for non-compliance with UAE tax laws including late registration, late filing, incorrect returns, and record-keeping failures.

Business Challenges

Many businesses receive unexpected penalty notices without understanding their appeal rights or reconsideration options available under UAE tax legislation.

FTA Penalties

Penalties vary: AED 500–AED 50,000 for filing issues; 14% per annum for late payment; AED 10,000–AED 20,000 for record-keeping failures.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA files professional penalty reconsideration requests and voluntary disclosure applications, achieving significant penalty reductions for clients.

Corporate Tax Impact Assessment

What It Means

A Corporate Tax Impact Assessment evaluates the financial and operational impact of UAE Corporate Tax on your specific business, including restructuring considerations.

Business Challenges

Without a proper assessment, businesses risk over-paying tax, missing deductions, or failing to plan for cash flow impacts from quarterly or annual tax payments.

FTA Penalties

Inadequate tax planning can result in unexpected tax liabilities, missed reliefs, and compliance gaps that attract FTA penalties.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA prepares a detailed Corporate Tax Impact Assessment tailored to your business, identifying optimisation opportunities and compliance requirements.

Tax Audit Support UAE

What It Means

The FTA conducts tax audits to verify the accuracy of tax returns and compliance with UAE tax laws. Audits can be triggered randomly or by specific risk indicators.

Business Challenges

FTA audits can be stressful and time-consuming. Without professional support, businesses risk adverse findings, additional tax assessments, and penalties.

FTA Penalties

Audit findings can result in additional tax assessments, penalties up to AED 50,000, and in serious cases criminal prosecution for tax evasion.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA provides full audit preparation, accompanies your team during FTA meetings, and manages responses to minimise your tax exposure and penalties.

UAE TP Benchmarking

What It Means

Transfer Pricing Benchmarking is the process of establishing arm’s length prices for related party transactions using comparable market data and OECD-approved methods.

Business Challenges

Selecting the right TP method, sourcing reliable comparable data, and preparing a robust benchmarking study requires specialised expertise and access to databases.

FTA Penalties

Inadequate benchmarking can result in TP adjustments, additional tax liability, and penalties of AED 10,000–AED 100,000 plus interest.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA’s TP specialists prepare defensible benchmarking analyses using recognised databases and methodologies that satisfy FTA documentation requirements.

Tax Deregistration UAE

What It Means

Businesses that cease taxable activity, fall below registration thresholds, or wind up operations must apply for deregistration from UAE Corporate Tax and/or VAT with the FTA.

Business Challenges

The deregistration process involves settling all outstanding liabilities, filing final returns, and ensuring no penalties are triggered during the exit process.

FTA Penalties

Failure to deregister when required can result in continued filing obligations and accumulating penalties even after business cessation.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA manages the complete deregistration process — from final returns to FTA confirmation — ensuring a clean, penalty-free tax exit for your business.

Bookkeeping Services Dubai

What It Means

Under UAE Corporate Tax law, all taxable businesses must maintain proper books of accounts and financial records for a minimum of 7 years from the end of the tax period.

Business Challenges

Maintaining FTA-compliant books requires understanding of allowable vs disallowed expenditure, correct revenue recognition, and proper documentation standards.

FTA Penalties

Failure to maintain adequate records attracts penalties of AED 10,000–AED 20,000 and weakens your position in FTA audits and investigations.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA’s bookkeeping team maintains fully FTA-compliant accounts for your business, ensuring you are always audit-ready with accurate, up-to-date records.

CT Filing UAE

What It Means

CT Filing refers to the annual submission of the Corporate Tax Return to the FTA, disclosing taxable income, deductions, reliefs, and the tax payable for the period.

Business Challenges

Errors in CT Returns — whether overstating deductions or misclassifying income — can trigger FTA corrections, additional tax assessments, and penalties.

FTA Penalties

Late filing penalties start at AED 500/month; incorrect returns attract AED 500–AED 1,000; non-filing can result in penalties up to AED 50,000.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA prepares accurate, optimised Corporate Tax Returns ensuring all reliefs and deductions are correctly claimed within full FTA compliance.

Tax Group Registration UAE

What It Means

UAE Corporate Tax allows eligible related companies to form a Tax Group, filing a single consolidated Corporate Tax Return and offsetting profits and losses within the group.

Business Challenges

Qualifying for Tax Group status requires meeting ownership thresholds, residency conditions, and financial year alignment across all group members.

FTA Penalties

Incorrectly forming or managing a Tax Group can result in incorrect tax filings, disallowed group reliefs, and retrospective tax assessments plus penalties.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA advises on Tax Group eligibility, manages the registration process with the FTA, and handles consolidated CT filing for the entire group.

Small Business Tax UAE

What It Means

Small businesses in the UAE with revenue not exceeding AED 3 million may elect for Small Business Relief, effectively paying 0% Corporate Tax on their taxable income.

Business Challenges

Understanding eligibility for Small Business Relief, making the correct election, and ensuring compliance with conditions requires careful professional guidance.

FTA Penalties

Incorrectly claiming Small Business Relief without meeting the conditions results in the standard 9% rate becoming due, plus penalties for incorrect returns.

How Bens Can Help

Bens CA assesses your eligibility for Small Business Relief, manages the relief election, and ensures your business maximises its available tax benefits legally.
